President Trump held a call with leaders in grocery, retail, and food industries to discuss the impact of coronavirus on supply chains across the U.S., reports The Hill. The call included executives from retailers like Whole Foods, Wegmans, Publix, Aldi, Walmart, Costco, Dollar General, and food companies like Campbell Soup Co. and Kraft Heinz.
Trump and Vice President Pence said that the retailers assured the administration they would remain open as normal, though possibly reducing hours to allow for cleaning and restocking.
"The President thanked them for the work they have already done to meet the needs of the public and for their continued commitment to the communities they serve. All of the executives are working hand-in-hand with the federal government, as well as state and local leaders, to ensure food and essentials are constantly available," White House spokesman Judd Deere said.
