Japan Village is being called the Japanese version of Eataly, and it's now open for business in Brooklyn, N.Y.'s Industry City, reports Eater. The market is comprised of several different food stalls, with vendors that include Cafe Japon, a maker of Japanese bread and matcha lattes, and Mika N' Momo, a Japanese juice and salad bar that focuses on vegetables such as shiso and komatsuna. Retailers include Kuraichi, a liquor store where diners will be able to purchase sake, Japanese whiskey, and wine, and Sunrise Market, which will have its own butcher shop and seafood market.
Japan Village is operating as a food hall within a food hall, as Industry City is already a culinary destination with foods from around the world, including Yaso Tangbao, a vendor of Shanghainese street food, and Colson Patisserie, a Belgian pasty maker. Other single-cuisine food markets are slated to open in New York City, including Hill Country, a food park dedicated to Austin-style barbecue and the Spanish market Mercado Little Spain, which is slated to open in spring 2019, according to the report.
