Two years ago Ava Winery announced plans to make a synthetic wine produced without grapes or fermentation. The company changed its name to Endless West and says wine has been pushed to the back burner. Its primary focus is now synthetic liquor.
Endless says its first product to market will either be a synthetic rum or whiskey made without barrels, and it could be available by the end of 2018. The company is focused on synthetic alcohol because it says the process is better for the environment, uses less water and land, and is more sustainable and cost-effective. The company's CEO, Alec Lee, adds "If things that we are doing were not necessary for the environment, we would not do it," reports Food & Wine. Full Story
