Sales of alcoholic beverages have risen 55 percent in the third week of March compared to the year prior, according to research from Nielsen, reports Food Dive. By category, sales of spirits rose 75 percent, wine sales increased 66 percent, and beer sales grew 34 percent.
Online sales are growing faster than in-store sales. Online sales of alcohol were up 243 percent the week ending March 21, compared to a year ago. Wine is driving the increase in sales; it made up 71 percent of the total alcohol sales online. Full Story
