Starbucks Moves to Drive-Thru Only Model

Starbucks has moved to a drive-thru and delivery only model in wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The company will be closing company-operated stores in the U.S. and Canada for two weeks, with the exception of some serving in or around hospitals and health care centers. Licensed partners will be able to make decisions for their properties.

In addition, Starbucks will pay all store partners for the next 30 days, whether employees come to work or choose to stay home. In a statement, Rossann Williams, EVP and president of U.S. company-operated business and Canada, said, “We are also encouraging other major employers to do the same to support retail workers at this time.  As government relief efforts move forward and become clearer, we will continue to do our part and will update you with additional information.”
