Plant-Based Food Sales Reach $5 Billion

Retail sales of plant-based food totaled $5 billion in 2020, according to research from the Plant Based Foods Association. Sales have grown 11.4 percent in the last year and 19 percent over the last two years.

The plant-based meat category alone is worth $939 million, and other categories, like plant-based dairy, are growing due to the emergence of new products. For example, in the past year, plant-based yogurt has grown 31 percent, while conventional yogurt declined 1 percent.
