2020 Winter Fancy Foods Show Begins Today in San Francisco

The 2020 Winter Fancy Food Show starts to today at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and runs through January 21.

General sessions begin with 5 Key Drivers in Specialty Food for 2020 at 11 a.m. on the Main Stage in South Hall Level 2, where David Lockwood and David Browne of Mintel will share what will drive specialty food growth in 2020 and beyond. The show’s exhibit hall will open at 10 a.m. on show days, and the Esplanade exhibits and What’s NEXT in Food will open at 9:30 a.m.

Maker Space sessions will also take place on level 2, starting at 8:30 a.m., which Start Right Grow Strong: Nine Critical Steps, presented by Tim Metzger of Stonewall Kitchen, followed by How to Work with a Co-Packer, presented by Jonathan Milo Leal of Milo’s Whole World at 12 p.m. The Maker sessions are designed for current and prospective producers suppliers of specialty food. The cost to attend for all three days of the show is $59 for members and $99 for non-members.

The Big idea sessions start with Passion x Purpose: Specialty Food Change Makers at 10:30 a.m. on the Big Idea stage located in South Hall Level 1, with speakers Morgan Oliveira from Grounded, Etc., Derk Hendriksen from Treasure8, and David Gremmels from Rogue Creamery. Other Big Idea talk speakers include Alli Cecchini Erggelet and husband Julian Erggelet on the American family farm, Jonathan Wolfson of Ingenuity Foods on childhood nutrition, and staff from La Cocina’s kitchen incubator.

Ron Tanner, SFA vice president of education, government and industry relations, will moderate a panel on the Main Stage titled Policy Spotlight: Key Issues for Your Specialty Food Business, covering topics such as tariffs, CBD, and Prop 65. Panelists include Jeni Lamb Rogers, PSL Law Group, LLC, Thomas Gellert, Gellert Global Group, Bob Bauer, Association of Food Industries, and Sophia Castillo, Downey Brand LLP.

The SFA Member Update Meeting will take place at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage, followed by the 2020 Leadership Awards Ceremony, hosted by Amanda Little, author of The Fate of Food.

Incubator Village returns once more, showcasing five incubators from around the country and 31 startups that partner with them to grow their products. It is located on the Esplanade Level.

SFA News Live will also be featured. Here, exhibitors and attendees will be interviewed about the newest innovations and trends in the food industry.

Be sure to check out Taste It Live!, an interactive area where attendees can see hands-on cooking demonstrations, processes, and techniques to help increase their businesses' bottom line. Taste It Live! will take place in the connector between the North and South Halls.
