Huy Fong Foods, the maker of Sriracha hot sauce, has lost a legal battle with its former jalapeño supplier, reports CNBC. The pepper grower, Underwood Ranches, was awarded $23.3 million in punitive damagers and compensation by a California jury for losses related to the dissolution of the working relationship between the supplier and Huy Fong Foods.
“Those losses were real, so we’ve got a lot of ground to make up, but it was so emotionally rewarding to hear all of the jury members support us unanimously,” says Craig Underwood, owner of Underwood Ranches. Full Story
