Coffee Farmers Meet to Discuss Raising Coffee Prices

Coffee farmers in Brazil, Colombia, and other countries are meeting in Brazil to determine if prices of coffee can be raised, reports Food Dive. The farmers are seeing the lowest global prices in more than a decade. For example, green coffee is about 20 cents less per pound than the cost of production.

This comes after cocoa producers in Ghana and Ivory Coast were able to increase prices of cocoa from $2,124 to $2,600 per metric ton. However, coffee producers aren’t sure they will be as successful as cocoa producers simply because there are more than 20 countries that would need to team up to make it happen. Full Story
