Little Caesars is offering Impossible Foods' meatless sausage crumbles on pizzas at 58 restaurants in Florida, Washington, and New Mexico, reports Washington Post. Little Caesars approached Impossible Foods earlier in 2019 regarding meat alternatives. Impossible Foods developed the plant-based sausage with custom sweet Italian seasoning for the chain. The product is cholesterol-free, has 17 grams of total fat, 17 grams of protein, and 270 calories in a quarter-pound serving. Like the Impossible Burger, the sausage is made with heme, a protein molecule developed to provide a juicy texture, and it has ingredients such as soy protein, coconut oil, and sunflower oil.
Impossible Foods spokeswoman Rachel Konrad says the company isn't selling the sausage anywhere else and hasn't announced any plan to. Little Caesar's Impossible Supreme Pizza includes mushrooms, caramelized onions, and green peppers. If the test goes well, the company may expand availability nationwide, according to the report.
