Stop & Shop Union Reaches Tentative Deal

Stop & Shop Supermarket workers have reached a tentative contract agreement with company officials that would increase wages and maintain health coverage, reports The New York Times. The union notes "the agreement preserves health care and retirement benefits, provides wage increases, and maintains time-and-a-half pay on Sunday for current members."

The tentative three-year agreement with United Food and Commercial Workers remains subject to ratification votes by members of each of the union locals. The company says, "Our associates' top priority will be restocking our stores so we can return to taking care of our customers and communities and providing them with the service they deserve." Full Story
