KJ's of Wisconsin Inc. has entered into an agreement with SpartanNash to acquire the Gordy's Market stores in Barron, Chetek, and Cornell, Wis., reports Barron News-Shield. The stores will be rebranded KJ's Fresh Market and SpartanNash will continue to distribute grocery and fresh products to the three stores.
SpartanNash acquired five Gordy's Market stores earlier in 2019 and had planned to rebrand the stores under its subsidiary Family Fare Supermarkets. Gordy's sold the Ladysmith Gordy's to Great Lakes Foods and it was renamed Ladysmith Fresh Market in February, while Hansen's IGA purchased the Eau Claire Gordy's Market in March. KJ's Fresh Market, and its related company Johanneson's Inc., operates grocery stores under the Marketplace Foods and Drug banner, MP Wine and Spirits stores, MP Gas and Convenience stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
