Mars Inc. has launched its Seeds of Change Accelerator to help early stage food-focused companies fast-track growth. Seeds of Change will select six U.S. and four Australian participants in several areas, including startup food brands, innovative experiential offerings, new business models, and emerging technology. The search will focus on companies that share Mars Foods' values of world flavors, plant-based eating, easy-meal solutions, responsible food, and creating with care.
Once selected, each startup will receive a grant of up to $50,000 and will undertake a tailored four-month program to scale its operations. The program will be led by Gary Arora, global lead of open innovation at Launchpad for Mars, and will give startups access to a panel of industry-expert mentors.
Mars' Seeds of Change brand was founded nearly 30 years ago to preserve the biodiversity of seeds and to make them more readily available to gardens and farmers. Likewise, the idea of the Seeds of Change accelerator is to help startups tackle practical business challenges and nurture the next generation of fresh ideas in food.
