Fat Brands Inc. claims its Fatburger restaurant chain will rebrand to Skinnyburger based on the popular demand for its top-pick menu item. The brand will reportedly begin to redesign stores as it rolls out the new brand nationally and is offering fans a sneak peek on its website, social media, and delivery platforms.
Fatburger launched almost 70 years ago in Southern California. The Skinnyburger menu item is a low-carb, bunless, lean beef burger made with two patties in lieu of buns with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, relish, pickles, onions, mustard, and other fixings sandwiched in between the patties.
According to CEO Andy Wiederhorn, the company has long been considering the rebranding, and Skinnyburger will maintain "the same iconic, great taste and experience of Fatburger" with a slimmed down brand.
