Blue Apron Founder Launches Cook’s Venture

Matthew Wadiak, the founder of Blue Apron, has launched Cooks Venture, a food company rooted in regenerative agriculture. The company purchased an 800-acre farm in Arkansas and two processing facilities in Oklahoma. Wadiak’s mission is improve the agricultural supply chain, promote regenerative agriculture at all levels, and provide consumers with food choices that are derived through a completely transparent process.

Cooks Venture is starting out selling pasture-raised, heirloom, slow growth chickens. The company claims it’s the only operation of scale in the U.S. to produce solely slow growing birds with unrestricted access to the outdoors. In the near future, the company will expand into raising cattle, pigs, grains, vegetables, and other products. Cooks Venture will operate an online grocery store and plans to begin distributing its products to supermarkets and restaurants in the summer of 2019.
