Drop Shipping for Wholesale Partners. “Your biggest issue will be who pays for the shipping. Draft an agreement that keeps that expense at arm's length, so you are not paying for that, by using your customer's shipping accounts, as well as factoring in a set cost for handling and packaging materials - which also cost you money, and you should be fine.”
2019 Trends. “We had the honor this fall of working with two college student groups in a business sales and marketing class. Both groups or fun to work with, and gave us interesting third-party perspective on younger people's views of food trends. Across-the-board, these students were concerned with sustainability in packaging. One group showed off our new shipping materials when they gave their final presentation. Though it may not seem specifically related to food trending, sustainable packaging I would agree is a trend for the coming year.”
Retailer Product Return for a Refund. “This sort of thing happens all the time, usually the distributor gives the retailer credit and gives you options about how to handle the goods, donation, return or destruction; oh, and they bill you back for the wholesale value of the product … in my own business I tend to shy away from certain categories of stores that would like our products, but where I know we won’t get good turnover; and they just want something for their shelves. We just tell them that we don't rent product, and if it doesn't sell there, and we have to give them credit for it, we only do it once.”
