Trader Joe's is ending its New York-area grocery delivery service, and has no plans to roll out delivery in other markets, reports Business Insider. The chain is ending the program on March 1, in part because it was too costly. Trader Joe's will still offer some non-perishable goods, like its popular cookie butter, on Amazon.
The decision comes at a time when many other major grocery chains are investing heavily in online grocery. Online grocery sales in the U.S. are outpacing the overall grocery market and are expected to reach $60 billion in 2023 up from $24 billion in 2018, according to data from the Institute of Grocery Distribution.
