Emmi Roth acquired a blue cheese plant in Seymour, Wis., from Great Lakes Cheese. The deal gives Emmi its fourth production facility in the state and adds 50 employees to the company's roster.
Before the deal, Emmi's blue cheese portfolio included Roth Buttermilk Blue, a creamy raw milk blue cheese; Roth Buttermilk Blue Affinee, an aged version of Buttermilk Blue; and Roth Moody Blue, a small-batch smoky product. The company expects this latest acquisition to allow for expansion of its blue cheese production and provide the opportunity to develop new products and packaging solutions.
"We believe in the blue cheese category and see this as an opportunity to strengthen our position in the market," says Tim Omer, Emmi's president and managing director. Emmi will assume ownership of the Seymour factory, related land, productions facility, and equipment on February 28, 2019.
