Ruby Chocolate Now Available in the U.S.

Ruby Chocolate, dubbed the fourth chocolate type, is finally arriving in the U.S., reports The New York Daily News. Chicago-based luxury treats company Vosges Haut-Chocolat will be the first brand in the country to offer ruby cocoa truffles.

Ruby chocolate was introduced in September of 2017 in Shanghai, China, by Belgian-Swiss cocoa company Barry Callebaut and was first debuted by KitKat in Japan and South Korea. Barry Callebaut claims it is the fourth type of chocolate, after dark, milk and white, invented 80 years after white chocolate hit the market. It is made from the ruby cocoa bean and the chocolate supplier describes it as a totally new taste experience.

Vosges will be offering two different truffles made with ruby cocoa. The brand's Ruby Cerise truffle is made with vanilla, cherry gelee, hibiscus, ruby cocoa, freeze-dried cherry, and pink peppercorn. And the Sour Mango Ruby is crafted from passion fruit, mango, salted caramel, ruby cocoa, and edible purple flower petal. Full Story
