France was named the most food sustainable country, according to an index by the Economist Intelligence Unit and the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition Foundation, reports Forbes. France topped the list due to its measures to tackle food waste, promote healthy lifestyles, and adopt eco-farming techniques. The Netherlands, Canada, Finland, and Japan rounded out the top five, while Rwanda scored highest among low-income countries.
China, the U.S. and the U.K. failed to make the top 20 in a list of 67 nations. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN estimates $1 trillion in food losses annually, representing a third of all food produced. Full Story
