Farmfolio, a Cayman Islands-based agriculture development firm, closed its second funding round for Pietrasanta, an organic coconut project in Columbia. It includes 570 acres of development and the country's first certified coconut nursery. Farmfolio says the venture attracted investors in 10 countries across the globe.
Since the latest investment round started, the company has planted and developed over 40,000 coconut trees and completed the certification of its organic nursery and plantation, making it the only source of exportable Colombian coconuts to date. The company plans to apply for GLOBALG.A.P. and U.S. Food and Drug Administration organic certifications in the upcoming year. Farmfolio also has plans to host international buyers throughout 2019 for the harvests slated in 2020.
