Baskin-Robbins has launched its next-generation store in Fresno, Calif., its first remodel since the Flavors 1.0 design in 2013, reports Nation's Restaurant News. The store will serve as a model for new and remodeled shops in 2019. In total, six to 10 new or remodeled stores are scheduled to adopt the Moments design in 2019.
The new design took a year and a half to develop and is meant to showcase Baskin-Robbins' ice cream in a "more premium way," says a brand executive. Among the most significant changes is the Ice Cream Novelties collection. The new offerings are showcased in a separate case and include smoothie bars, hand-dipped frozen treats such as chocolate-dipped bananas, and novelties like Polar Pizza, which is made to look like a pizza with a round cookie or brownie base layered with ice cream and other toppings. The handheld snacks will be featured at new and remodeled stores, including a second location opening early 2019 in El Paso, Texas.
The core ice cream flavors will remain the same, with the addition of affogatos. Baskin-Robbins plans to serve espresso poured over ice cream at stores that are co-branded with its sister brand, Dunkin'. There are 1,300 co-branded Baskin-Robbins locations of more than 2,500 U.S. stores. Full Story
