The Kroger Co. and Walgreens are collaborating on an exploratory pilot to develop and test a format where customers can access products and services from both companies. At 13 Walgreens stores in northern Kentucky, customers will be able to pick up Kroger online grocery orders and purchase Kroger's Our Brands private label items in-store.
The companies will conduct this pilot over the next several months, listening closely to customer feedback. The concept is meant to bring the two brands together to rethink convenience and redefine the way U.S. consumers shop for food, says Kroger chairman and CEO Rodney McMullen, while Walgreens' executive vice chairman and CEO Stefano Pessina looks forward to learning how new approaches to promotions and product selection will help impact the customer shopping experience.
