Chef Jose Andres Raises Funds for New Subsidiary

Chef José Andrés raised $12 million from eight investors through an affiliate of his restaurant company, ThinkFoodGroup, reports Washington Business Journal. The subsidiary, called Fast Good LLC, is helmed by ThinkFoodGroup CEO Kimberly Grant and involves CFO Gary Evans and Andrés himself.

Details of what the funding will be used for have not been released, but Washington Business Journal notes the name suggests it could be to build Andrés' fast casual business. Andrés has said he'd like to expand his quick-service restaurant Beefsteak, and the company has been using its ThinkFoodLab space in Washington, D.C., to test out other fast-casual concepts. ThinkFoodGroup also recently acquired the rights to The Bazaar, a concept Andrés launched in conjunction with SLS Hotels, according to the report. Full Story
