Just a decade ago, there was no beer in Anheuser-Busch's portfolio that could be legitimately labeled "craft." Although the company dabbled at the edges of the craft beer movement, it remained steady in its support of its core brands, including Bud and Bud Light, Natural Light, and Michelob Ultra. However, now, AB can be called the nation's largest craft beer company, reports The Ledger.
Anheuser-Busch surged past Boston Beer and Sierra Nevada in 2018 to become the nation's top craft beer company in terms of dollar sales, according to IRI Worldwide. Between 2011 and 2017, Anheuser-Busch bought 10 breweries from coast to coast, beginning with Chicago's Goose Island Beer Co. and ending (for now) with Wicked Weed Brewing of Asheville, NC. IRI sales data does not include liquor or draft stores, but most experts note within a year or two, AB will be leading in sales at those formats, as well, according to the report. Full Story
