Kroger Commemorates Earth Month With Donation

Kroger is celebrating Earth Month by making contributions to the World Wildlife Fund, a conservation organization, and the Arbor Day Foundation, a reforestation nonprofit, through Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm.

"We are proud to join forces with WWF and the Arbor Day Foundation to celebrate Earth Month with our communities and advance our shared mission to protect our planet for generations to come," said Keith Dailey, Kroger's group VP of corporate affairs and chief sustainability officer, in a statement.

In the month of April, customers can round up their purchases to the nearest dollar amount at checkout to benefit WWF, with the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation matching customer donations up to $50,000. All donations will go directly to WWF. Funds will benefit the organization’s global conservation and sustainability efforts.

Kroger’s philanthropic arm is also supporting efforts to increase tree canopies in communities impacted by extreme weather, including Shreveport, Louisiana, and Bowling Green, Kentucky with a $50,000 contribution to the Arbor Day Foundation. Expanding the tree canopy in these areas will help combat impacts from future natural disasters.

Since Zero Hunger | Zero Waste was founded in 2018, it has donated $1.65 billion to combat hunger relief and supplied nearly $60 million in grants.
