Delivery Apps Back Bill That Would Lift NYC Fee Caps

DoorDash and Grubhub are pushing for New York City to pass a bill that would amend a cap on fees they can charge restaurants, at a time when a minimum wage for delivery workers is set to take effect next year, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The bill that was introduced last month would require companies to offer basic delivery services at the capped 15 percent commission, but allow them to charge restaurants a premium for additional functions like marketing.

New York is the only large city in the U.S. where a cap on fees is permanently in place. Philadelphia and San Francisco have already passed laws similar to the one proposed. Full Story
