Wegmans is hiring and training for more than 250 part-time positions at its new Reston, Virginia location. The 85,000-square-foot store is seeking part-time positions in every department, including culinary roles and customer service positions.
The store is also actively hiring full-time positions, a process that began in the Spring. The retailer has also partnered with the Reston YMCA to host a hiring event that will take place today.
“We’re looking for applicants who have a passion for food and are eager to make a difference for our customers and the community,” said Reston store manager Katie Sullivan, in a statement. “The ideal candidate also shares our core values of respect, caring, and high standards. If you match these criteria, we can teach you all the other skills you need to thrive in our company.”
Recent full-time hire Dave LaBranche came to Wegmans after working at a competitor for over 20 years. He will oversee a team of cashiers at the store’s front end.
“We have so many young kids that work here, and a lot of them stay here to build a career. They stay for a reason,” said LaBranche. “I want to help them find a skill they are good at and watch them grow.”
The Reston location is scheduled to open in early 2023. Once opened, it will bring the total number of operating Wegmans stores in the state to 15. It hopes to hire more than 400 people, most of whom will be new to the company, and a part of local communities.
