It’s been an eventful year in the regulatory and legislative world, beginning on January 6, when SFA testified on USTR’s proposed tariffs in relation to France’s Digital Service tax. USTR and tariffs dominated the first part of the year, then FDA stepped in with their proposed rule on Standards of Identity. Not to be outdone, USDA published its most sweeping organic proposed rule in 20 years in August. In September, the FDA released the long-anticipated final proposed rule under the Food Safety Modernization Act on Food Traceability.
