The EU will begin applying tariffs on $4 billion worth of U.S. goods on Tuesday, according to EU trade chief Valdis Dombrovskis, reports Reuters. This follows last month's decision from the World Trade Organization that gave the EU the right to implement retaliatory tariffs in the long-running dispute over subsidies provided to aircraft makers.
According to a preliminary list that the European Commission released last year, the products it may seek to tariff include frozen seafood like tuna, salmon, lobsters, and scallops, cheddar cheese, sweet potatoes, chocolate, fresh fruit, wines, and ketchup.
Dombrovskis said that the European Commission would publish an annoucement on its plans in the EU official journal later today, with tariffs going into effect tomorrow. Full Story
