This law acts as an exemption for California’s Assembly Bill 5, which went into effect earlier this year, requiring third-party companies to classify workers as employees.
Supporters of Prop 22 say that the measure would save jobs, preserve worker flexibility, and protect vulnerable communities that would be at risk of reduced service levels.
