Eskimo Pie, an ice cream treat made by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, will be renamed Edy’s Pie after the company recognized that the Eskimo name was inappropriate, reports Food Dive. Dryer’s announced in June that it would rebrand the product, but did not release the new name until now.
Edy's Pie is in honor of one of the company’s founders, Joseph Edy, said Dreyer’s head of marketing Elizabell Marquez, in an emailed statement.
Dryer’s follows in the footsteps of Mars Food, B&G Foods, and Quaker Oats, who have also rebranded due to racially insensitive brand names. Full Story
