CDC: Listeria Outbreak Linked to Deli Meats

The CDC is investigating a multi-state outbreak of Listeria infections linked to deli meats. Ten people have been hospitalized in Florida, Massachusetts, and New York as part of the outbreak and one death has been reported in Florida.

Ill people have reported eating Italian-style meats, such as salami, mortadella, and prosciutto and purchasing both prepackaged deli meats and meats sliced at deli counters.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if there is a specific type of deli meat or common supplier linked to the illness.
