Southeastern Grocers Donates $1.28 Million Worth of Food

Southeastern Grocers Inc. has donated almost 258,000 hunger relief bags containing nonperishable food items worth $1.28 million, to Feeding America, reports Progressive Grocer. The food will help provide meals for people throughout Southeastern Grocers’ southeastern footprint who are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation program, which took place in partnership with the retailer’s charitable arm SEG Gives Foundation, took place from May 5 to 15 at all stores. Customers and associates could purchase a bag to donate for $5.

“We are grateful for the giving hearts of our customers and associates who recognize the needs in our communities and are able to make an impact in meaningful ways,” said Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers. “With this donation, we are providing support to our local food pantries, nourishment to individuals in need and providing hope to our neighbors during these difficult times. As a community, we are stronger together.” Full Story
