K-VA-T Foods is making adjustments to its labor and logistics strategies to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, reports Supermarket News. The retailer, which is the parent of Food City, pivoted workers from its category reset teams and other retail positions to work in the company’s warehouse as product selectors until it could hire more dedicated selectors. In addition, K-VA-T secured transportation resources from other industries that have seen reduced volume.
“We made some adjustments to our business to help us handle capacity, which have really proven to be very effective,” said Dan Glei, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing at K-VA-T. Full Story
