Instacart has introduced a “Fast & Flexible” delivery option designed to increase speed and availability for customers. The feature matches customer orders with real time shopper availability, meaning orders will be delivered by the first available shopper, rather than being scheduled for a specific window.
In addition, Instacart is rolling out an order ahead feature that allows customers to place orders up to two weeks in advance. The feature is currently available in a select number of high demand locations but will roll out across North America in the coming weeks.
“Over the last month, our teams have moved quickly to reprioritize our entire product pipeline to better serve customers and shoppers,” said the company in a statement. “In the last month, we’ve introduced more than 15 new product and support features. As customer demand has increased by 300 percent year-over-year, we’ve also grown our shopper community from 200,000 to 350,000 active shoppers to better serve customers while also providing shoppers with immediate, flexible earnings opportunities.”
