Forty-seven percent of retailers expect that there will be some downside revenue implications of the coronavirus outbreak, according to new research from Digital Commerce 360. In addition, 58 percent acknowledge that there will be some impact of the outbreak on consumer confidence.
In terms of actions that retailers are taking, 20 percent are taking aggressive action, 44 percent are taking some action and anticipating more will be forthcoming, and 36 percent are taking a wait-and-se approach as more information becomes available.
“Our findings suggest that most are cautious and taking some action, although it doesn’t appear that panic mode has set in,” said Lauren Freedman, senior consumer insights analyst at Digital Commerce 360, in the report.
