US Increases Tariffs on European Aircraft

The U.S. Trade Representative will increase the duty imposed on European aircraft from 10 to 15 percent effective March 18, reports The New York Times. It also removed prune juice from the list of taxed items and added a 25 percent tax on French and German butcher and kitchen knives.

The administration hopes the bump will put pressure on Europe to reach a deal with the U.S. The annual value of the goods subject to tariffs will remain at $7.5 billion, the trade representative says. Full Story
