Instacart has rolled out a new grocery pickup experience with more than 50 retail partners across more than 1,500 stores in 30 states. In addition, the online grocer has appointed company veteran Sarah Mastrorocco to the newly-created role of general manager of Instacart Pickup.
New features of Instacart Pickup include smart digital storefronts that allow customers to toggle through delivery and pickup opens for their favorite stores, “Pick Your Pickup” mapping that lets customers easily view and select the pickup location most convenient from them, “On the Way” alerts that let stores know when customers are on their way to pick up, the ability to delegate pickup to a friend or family member, and more.
"2020 is the year of pickup. For our retail partners, we've seen Instacart Pickup become a gateway to growth in a margin-thin industry. Our pickup product is also becoming a significant revenue contributor for our retail partners, growing customer basket size by an average of 15 percent and accounting for an average of 20 percent of a retailer's total Instacart store sales," said Nilam Ganenthiran, president of Instacart, in a statement.
