The BFresh store in Allston, Mass., operated by Ahold Delhaize USA banner Stop & Shop, will close by the end of the year, report Progressive Grocer. The 8,600-square-foot urban concept store, which offers fresh and prepared food, first opened in 2015, but has failed to catch on with shoppers. Locations in Fairfield, Conn., and Brighton, Mass. Have already closed, and plans to open a BFresh store in Philadelphia were cancelled.
“Stop & Shop has made the difficult decision not to renew the lease for its BFresh store on Harvard Avenue in Allston, Mass., as the store was not meeting financial expectations,” the Quincy, Mass.-based chain noted in a statement supplied to Progressive Grocer. “Stop & Shop intends to operate the store through Dec. 28, 2019.” Full Story
