In an update on the investigation into an outbreak of E. coli, the FDA has warned that consumers should not eat any romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas, Calif. or that does not have labeling information for its growing area. The FDA is also sending investigators to Salinas to determine the exact source of contamination.
To date, the outbreak has been linked to 40 cases of illness in 16 states.
