Tariffs to Be Levied on EU Specialties

The Trump administration will place 25 percent tariffs on a variety of specialty foods from the E.U., as early as October 18, reports Reuters. Affected items include European cookies, salami, butter, olives from France and Spain, EU produced pork products, German coffee, Italian cheese like Parmesan Reggiano, Romano, and provolone, fruits, clams, and yogurt, French wine, and single-malt Scotch whiskey. However, Italian wine and pasta will be spared, along with chocolate, Greek, French, Italian, and Portuguese olive oil, frozen fish, lobster, and sparkling wine.

The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office says it will “continually re-evaluate these tariffs based on our discussions with the EU” and expects to enter talks to resolve the dispute, according to the report. Full Story
