World’s Best Cheese has launched a petition opposing the retaliatory tariffs on specialty food, specifically, imported cheeses. Joe Gellert, president and owner of World's Best Cheese, says that these tariffs could more than double prices, making it harder for importers to sell to retailers, who already raise prices on the product. Consumers will also be impacted, which Gellert believes is the key to fighting the tariffs.
“My biggest concerns I that no one is making the public aware of this problem,” says Gellert. “There’s a whole industry at risk here and no one is doing anything.” Gellert plans to deliver the petition to the White House in mid-September.
