Philly's Reading Terminal Gets Outdoor Space

Philadelphia's Reading Terminal will get a $1 million addition, in the form of an outdoor, pedestrian-friendly, seasonal space, reports Curbed Philadelphia. The project focuses on the 1100 block of Filbert Street, which runs under the Hilton Garden Inn, next to the market. It will transform the block into 15,000 square feet of public space, bringing more dining-friendly seats, pop-up retail kiosks, and temporary and permanent art installations.

The block will be transformable, becoming either a vehicular street or a pedestrian plaza, depending on the time of year and special events. The market's officials claim "the integration of pop-up retail will further strengthen the market's connection to the local entrepreneur community through partnerships with West Philadelphia's Enterprise Center, farmer's markets, and artist collectives." Full Story
