Lawmakers have broadened a proposal to legalize the growing of industrial hemp in Louisiana to also create a regulatory framework for CBD product sales, reports The Kansas City Star. Language added to the bill would prohibit sales of alcohol or food containing CBD, unless the Food and Drug Administration approves the substance for such use. It outlines a process for selling other CBD products.
The growing and processing of hemp, a relative of the marijuana plant used in textiles and fuels, would comply with the 2018 federal Farm Bill. The House voted 102-0 for the measure, sending it to the Senate. Full Story
