Don Lee Farms has introduced Chickenless Nuggets and Chickenless Patties to school districts nationwide, which are formulated to meet and exceed school lunch nutrition requirements.
The company says as children's expectations and nutritional requirements change, schools struggle to keep up with the biggest hurdle: price. According Donald Goodman, president of Don Lee Farms, the company used its market position, buying power, and leadership in innovation to make chickenless items a better value than traditional nuggets. And in most cases, the price for chickenless items are at or below what chicken nuggets cost schools today, he says.
"We have years of experience turning proteins from plants into breakthrough items. We also know how to create the experience meat eaters expect from plant-based alternatives. We combined those core competencies with our leading position in meat proteins in the School Lunch Program," Goodman adds.
