Whole Foods Prices Down 1 Percent After Price Cuts

The price of a typical shopping trip at Whole Foods Market has decreased 1 percent after Amazon's price cuts, according to a Gordon Haskett analyst, reports New York Post. The analyst reported price increases for beverages, dairy staples, and packaged goods when compared to prices observed in August 2018, which offset the recent price decreases. The analyst found that a cart of 106 key grocery items at Whole Foods now costs $396.88, just $3.81 down from the August 2018 pricing.

"There is no corporate policy stating that Whole Foods will keep its prices low on these items," says the analyst, this is a temporary measure that is meant to lure more Amazon Prime customers into the stores. He claims the pricing push is likely a response to softening sales at Whole Foods. "Our data shows that their sales have been softer over the last six to nine months." Full Story
