The U.S. has won a World Trade Organization ruling against China's use of tariff-fate quotas for rice, wheat, and corn, which it argued limited market access for U.S. grain exports, reports CNBC. The case was lodged by the Obama administration back in 2016.
In a statement, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue welcomed the decision, saying China’s system “ultimately inhibits [tariff rate quotas] from filling, denying U.S. farmers access to China’s market for grain." Full Story
