Starbucks is slated to launch espresso pods for Nespresso machines, reports Food & Wine. Products in the line will include Starbucks Espresso Roast, Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast, Starbucks Single-Origin Columbia Coffee, and Starbucks Pike Place Roast.
A Nespresso representative says the two companies have been collaborating on the project for under a year. The espresso in the pods is made from the same 100 percent arabica coffee beans used in Starbucks stores, but developing the product for Nespresso's pod system required some work. In addition to delivering a cafe-prepared taste, the Nespresso machine has an accompanying milk frother that can further help drinkers mimic an in-store experience.
In early May, the Starbucks Espresso Nespresso pods will be offered through online retail sources, including Amazon, Jet, and Walmart. The line will roll out to brick-and-mortar stores later in the year. Full Story
