Nestle SA will launch its meatless Incredible Burger in Europe, reports Bloomberg. The soy-based product includes wheat and extracts of beetroot, carrot, and bell peppers. The Incredible Burger will be marketed under the Garden Gourmet brand and will be stocked in the chilled and frozen aisles in countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden.
The company is also developing the Awesome Burger, a meatless product designed for the American market, that's slated for release near the end of 2019 It will be available where Sweet Earth products are sold.
Nestle is aiming to get its product on store shelves ahead of Impossible Foods, which also wants to make its debut in supermarkets in 2019. However, Impossible needs to get Food and Drug Administration approval for heme, a key ingredient in its meatless products, before that can happen.
